Police in Cyprus are continuing to hunt a suspected hit and run driver after a British soldier was knocked down and killed near Dhekelia.
The serviceman, who’s not yet been named, was struck by the vehicle on a coast road close to the garrison at around 8.30 on Saturday evening.
Flowers and candles now mark the spot where he died.
Local media are reporting that the soldier was aged 33.
The Ministry of Defence says the soldier’s family has been informed.
Dhekelia Garrison is home to Second Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment who leave Cyprus next month after three years on the island.
